What did you do this past week?
Last week I procrastinated absolutely all of my work and pretended I had nothing to do. It was really nice to have a break but it’s all catching up to me today which is very unfortunate. It was very weird because when I have work I stress out over all of the work I have to do but when I don’t have work and have some time to relax I still stress because I feel like I should be doing something productive.
What’s in your way?
There’s not much in my way at the moment. With Thanksgiving this week the only thing I really have to do is figure out how to binge 5 seasons of Bones in 5 days. I do need to start the Life project but I still have a good chunk of time so I am not too worried about it yet, which is probably a mistake.
What will you do next week?
Next week I will celebrate Thanksgiving and work on the Life project. I don’t have much else to do during the week.
If you read it, what did you think of The New Methodology?
I have not read this paper yet.
What was your experience of containers, container adapters, and Life? (this question will vary, week to week)
Containers seemed like a throwback to data structures so that was kind of interesting. Life seems very complex and hard to wrap my head around but I am sure it will make more sense once I actually start coding it. That’s how I felt about Darwin too at first.
What made you happy this week?
It’s been a good weekend so far which makes me happy. It’s diwali, so I am taking the holiday as an excuse to keep eating out to celebrate even though I’m kinda broke. There was also an amazing F1 race this morning. It was on a wet track with fresh asphalt so everyone was just trying not to crash at all times which was fun to watch.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My tip of the week is rubber ducky programming. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the overall picture of one of my projects, even after I had piecemealed working code together. My brother needed some help learning the same programming language for his job so I took him through parts of my code, explaining the syntax and what was going on, and in the end I also had a better understanding of my project just by saying everything out loud.
